What does backache mean ?
Back pain is a popular and persistent ailment, which he is complaining about 80% society. They are usually caused by more than one factor. Their proper definition may be key to choosing the right treatment or methods of eliminating back pain.
The causes of back pain can be either incorrect posture, lifestyle, operating mode, the degree and type of physical activity and certain genetic predispositions.

We can distinguish pains in three different locations of the spine :
- upper back ( cervical spine)
- middle back ( thoracic spine)
- lower back ( lumbar spine)
Pain in the cervical spine is often related to our way of working and living. They appear when sitting at the computer for a long time, driving a car without regular breaks or simply in stressful situations. The immediate cause of local pain in the neck and the accompanying numbness and tingling of the hands or fingers, there may be cervical discopathy or degeneration.
Pain in the thoracic spine, usually referred to by patients as pain between the shoulder blades or chest pain. They are often various muscle tensions or posture defects, which we are able to eliminate by regular meetings with a good physiotherapist.
Pain in the lumbar spine is the most common backache. As in the case of the cervical segment, it is often caused by discopathies and degenerative changes, for which we "work" for many years.
What to do, to have a healthy back ?
- try to change positions frequently throughout the day, so that the muscles do not stiffen and stay in one position for a long time
- engage in regular physical activity, e.g.. pilates. Adjust your physical activity to your abilities. Especially, when you are just starting your adventure with sport or you come back after a long break, do not try to break records right away
- take care of your weight, extra pounds are also more to lift for your spine
- regularly use preventive visits to a physiotherapist, e.g.. 1x in 6 weeks – remember, that prevention is always better than cure. In the case of back pain, preventive measures can work wonders. Do not allow their formation despite many risk factors (e.g.. sedentary work or long journeys in the car).
