What is osteopathy ?

Osteopathy is a manual method of diagnosis and therapy of the patient. Its history and philosophy date back to the 19th century, when in 1874 year, the American physician Dr. Andrew Still classified it as a form of improvement in conventional medicine. First, the philosophy of osteopathy follows a principle, that the human body is a whole. Importantly, it is characterized by a holistic view of the patient's body, and not just selected parties. Notices an important relationship between body structure and its functioning. The main task of an osteopath is to restore the natural mobility of tissues, increasing the body's ability to regenerate.

The philosophy of osteopathy

Osteopathy is a kind of philosophy. Touch is the basic element and tool for diagnosis and treatment of a patient. Physiotherapists externally affect the human body, while the osteopath wants to stimulate the internal mechanisms in the body, so that the patient's body has the conditions and can strive for self-regulation and gaining health. We focus mainly on the causes of the patient's ailments and not on themselves.

Application of osteopathy

Osteopathy is widely used in therapy:

In Poland, it is still a new branch of medicine. By itself it is divided into :

Structural osteopathy- dealing with the examination and treatment of the musculoskeletal system. Direct work is performed on the muscle tissues, skeletal, fascial or nervous. To improve mobility, lymphatic drainage, venous system or reduce tissue tension.

Visceral osteopathy(visceral) - soft, manual work of the patient to restore the correct tension, flexibility and mobility of internal organs. Problems in the visceral system through their connections can cause dysfunctions in the locomotor system such as: stomach tension or irritation of liver ligaments. These can cause, for example. shoulder pain, spine).

Craniosacral osteopathy- a delicate form of manual work within the skull, chest, diaphragm, pelvis, and sacrum to loosen connective tissue structures, whose increased tension can cause many health problems.

Moreover, the function of many systems improves after osteopathic therapy: respiratory system, nervous and circulatory system. As a consequence, the body's natural self-healing powers return.
