The cervical and lumbar spine are the two most common parts of the spine in which this discopathy occurs.. But what it really is ?

We can say, that discopathy is a civilization disease, but also answer the careless, sedentary lifestyle. Discopathy is a pathology within the intervertebral disc, that is, a jelly-like element located between the upper and lower vertebrae.
The spine consists of bone parts – vertebrae and the jelly-like part between them – intervertebral discs (disks), which are designed to cushion the overload of the spine on a daily basis.
The jelly-like disc consists of a center – nucleus pulposus and is surrounded by fibrous rings.
One of the first spine abnormalities that occurs is dehydration, decrease in hydration of the jelly-like substance. What may be caused by the long-term position of the spine, e.g.. sitting or little movement. As a result, the disks are compressed (posture defects, gravitation) which increases the risk of degenerative changes or discopathy.
Posture defects, no movement, sitting or standing work is the most common cause. Weakened muscles cause, that the load on the spine increases. Consequently, the drives are still trying to amortize, they begin to extend beyond their area, putting pressure on the nerve structures.
And here we list 4 types of development of discopathy.
Embossing – the structure of the outer fibrous ring is weakened, which causes a perceptible disturbance in the stability of the pulp pulposus,
Boss – the inside of the outer ring causes a gradual weakening and destruction of its inner part, which results in increased instability within the nucleus pulposus,
Hernia – internal damage leads to failure of the fibrous ring, which results in a break in its continuity. The loss of full stability of the pulmonary nucleus leads to free movement of this structure, which may cause it to leak out, the so-called. slipped disc,
Seizure – the last and the most dangerous form of discopathy; the nucleus pulposus is damaged, and its damaged parts pose a risk of compression of the core, as they can pass inside the spinal canal.
Discopathy can be the result of many causal factors such as :
- significant muscle weakness in the lumbar spine,
- impaired diaphragm work along with weak abdominal muscles,
- lack of proper technique of performing exercises, especially in the case of strength and endurance training,
- lack of knowledge of the principles of maintaining the correct body posture in the course of everyday functioning,
- insufficient or complete lack of knowledge about the appropriate ergonomics of the workplace,
- improperly composed diet and insufficient amount of ingredients, which help to maintain the optimal condition of the musculoskeletal structures (e.g.. collagen protein, vitamin C, chondroityna, glucosamine).
How can we help you ?
- sign up for a physiotherapy consultation, where the physiotherapist will examine your body, will assess posture defects, will show you exercises to do at home,
- book an appointment for manual therapy, i.e. manual techniques performed by a physiotherapist to relax the appropriate muscles, improving the blood supply to the surrounding tissues,
- make an appointment for pilates exercises, where you can improve your attitudes in a safe and tailored way. You will work on your condition and you will feel relief for your back
- make an appointment for a massage, where you will relax and loosen your body.
We invite you to make an appointment.
